Every southern girl (or guy) will tell you, sausage gravy is a STAPLE in any southern household! If you don't like sausage gravy, are you really from the south?! Just kidding!
My grandma makes, my daddy makes it and I made it a mission to learn how to make it.
My kids L O V E it when you tell them we're having biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I'm still working on perfecting the homemade biscuits but this sausage gravy--try it out for yourself and tell me it isn't amazing!! I bet you can't! :)
Ingredients:
1lb pork sausage
1/3 cup all purpose flour (add a little more if you like it super thick)
4 cups milk (I use 2%)
1/4 tsp season salt
1 tsp black pepper
Directions:
Brown your sausage until it's fully cooked through; DO NOT DRAIN THE GREASE!
Sprinkle your flour over your sausage and stir to soak up all the grease and cook off the flour taste.
Slowly add in your milk while constantly stirring your sausage & flour mixture.
Let cook, while constantly stirring, for about 11-12 minutes.
Sprinkle in your pepper & season salt and stir and cook for another minute or so. If your gravy becomes too thick, add in a splash of milk and stir.
Serve over HOT biscuits and ENJOY!!
