Southern Style Sausage Gravy

Every southern girl (or guy) will tell you, sausage gravy is a STAPLE in any southern household! If you don't like sausage gravy, are you really from the south?! Just kidding!

My grandma makes, my daddy makes it and I made it a mission to learn how to make it.

My kids L O V E it when you tell them we're having biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I'm still working on perfecting the homemade biscuits but this sausage gravy--try it out for yourself and tell me it isn't amazing!! I bet you can't! :)

Ingredients:

  • 1lb pork sausage

  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour (add a little more if you like it super thick)

  • 4 cups milk (I use 2%)

  • 1/4 tsp season salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

Directions:

  • Brown your sausage until it's fully cooked through; DO NOT DRAIN THE GREASE!

  • Sprinkle your flour over your sausage and stir to soak up all the grease and cook off the flour taste.

  • Slowly add in your milk while constantly stirring your sausage & flour mixture.

  • Let cook, while constantly stirring, for about 11-12 minutes.

  • Sprinkle in your pepper & season salt and stir and cook for another minute or so. If your gravy becomes too thick, add in a splash of milk and stir.

  • Serve over HOT biscuits and ENJOY!!

“Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. Luke 6:21
